It seems fitting that the first engagement session that I’m going to blog is Alanna and Ryan’s. I’ve known Alanna since when she was in second grade and a teeny little pipsqueak full of sass rocking a head full of curls and some stellar eye ware. Best friends with my sister, I was there as Alanna grew up and grew into a beautiful, determined med student with a huge heart, big laugh and same sassy attitude as the six year old kid I met at St. Johns. I was also there when she started dating Ryan in high school. Barely into their teenage years, these kids had a love so fierce that it was impossible to dismiss it as “first love feelings”; there was something different about them, and it was sad when they parted ways before they went to college. But, like everything that is meant to be, Alanna and Ryan found their way back to one another and, several years later Ryan planned a surprise proposal at West Point. To this day it’s still one of the sweetest things I’ve ever photographed and still kinda makes me cry when I look back at the pictures.
Last Summer I photographed Alanna and Ryan’s engagement session. We met at Topsmead State Forest in Litchfield, CT and right from the go we had a good time by starting the session with a bottle of champagne. These two are loving, playful and perfect for one another and I cant wait to photograph their wedding in October and be a part of the next phase of their journey as husband and wife. The only thing that would make the day better is if their ADORABLE pup Kaya came to the wedding like she did the engagement session. Alanna and Ryan, if you’re reading this I think she would make an adorable ring bearer. Just a thought.
